For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; 1 Peter 3:12
But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You. John 11:22
And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. John 11:41
Bro Kenneth Hagin told a story about how a demon disturbed a conversation he had with the Lord Jesus in a vision.
In that vision, the Lord appeared to speak with him. And while they were having the conversation, a demon prevented him from hearing what the Lord was saying to him.
He waited for the Lord to rebuke the demon but the Lord continued to talk as if nothing was happening.
After some time he rebuked the demon in the name of Jesus and got the most shocking response from the Lord.
“If you didn’t rebuke that demon there was nothing I could do”.
He thought he heard “there was nothing I will do”. But when he asked for clarification, the Lord told him there was nothing He could do if he didn’t rebuke the demon.
Christ Jesus finished the work and gave authority to the church, that’s you, to use His name here on earth.
If you don’t do anything about the conditions around you, there is nothing heaven can do.
Thus, it is very important for you to be sure that all your words in prayer get the necessary attention in heaven.
How then would you feel knowing that every word you ever utter in Jesus name is heard by the Father?
Would it make you pray more? Will you make more requests and wait for them to manifest?
God hears you.
But the problem is sometimes it takes time before there is a manifestation of answers.
But before we talk more about the need to wait and enduring faith, let me make it clear to you that God hears you.
Apostle Peter said the Father’s eyes are over the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers.
The keyword in that scripture is “righteous”.
That means for you to be sure that God hears you, you have to be righteous.
How then do you become righteous?
The new covenant righteousness is through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
When our Lord Jesus Christ hung and died on the cross, the divine exchange happened.
He took your place and in return, he offers you His righteousness as a gift.
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
This means you are not righteous because of your actions but because you believe Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior.
If you don’t believe this, you will never be convinced that God hears your prayer.
So the question is – do you believe that you have the righteousness of God as a gift or do you still believe that you become righteous based on how you perform?
If you believe you become righteous based on what you do, then you have fallen into the same error that the Israelites made.
For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Romans 10:2-4 NKJV
A wrong belief system will make you manifest wrong behaviors. And when you continually act wrong, you will assume you have lost your righteousness in Christ.
The result of such wrong belief is to assume God no longer hears your prayer.
So instead of trying to establish your own righteousness to get God to hear your prayer…
Receive the righteousness by faith in Christ and know for sure that God hears your prayer.
How then do you deal with delays in prayer when you are sure God hears your prayer?
There was an incident in scripture between Peter and the Lord Jesus Christ. Here is Mathew’s account of what happened on that fateful day.
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Mathew 14:28-32
The Lord rebuked Peter by saying “O you of little faith, why did you doubt”?
“O you of little faith” is now interpreted as having small faith. But notice that Peter walked on water.
He left the boat. Yet something happened while he stood on the water that made the Lord Jesus rebuke him by saying “he had little faith”.
It wasn’t about the size of Peter’s faith. Peter didn’t have an enduring faith.
He had the faith to start but he didn’t have the faith to finish. His faith didn’t endure.
So the Lord rebuked him for not holding on to the faith he started with.
And this is the same rebuke we all face today.
How many times have you prayed and you knew at the moment that God hears you, but as time passed unbelief came in and you didn’t wait to see the manifestation of your request?
This is having little faith.
So it is enough to know that God hears you, you have to also allow your faith to do the necessary work while you wait.
Going forward be sure that God hears you when you pray…
If for any reason it is taking time for you to see the manifestation of your prayer requests, be patient.
Leave your faith out in the field and allow your faith to do the necessary work.
So let’s say you prayed that a pain in your body should go.
You know the Father heard you when you prayed in Jesus name. Also, because His word proves His desire for you to be healthy at all times.
If you continue to make the confession of faith that you are healed, in time you will see results. But the moment you start talking about the pain and how much it hurts, you are going against your faith.
Faith doesn’t mean the problem isn’t there. It means despite knowing the problem is there, you choose to confess what the Word of God says.
Conclusion
Start by believing in the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus for you.
Knowing this helps you believe what apostle Peter said about the Lord’s ear is open to the righteous.
Then you have to allow your faith to work.
Don’t pray for one thing and confess something totally different from what you prayed for.
It is important to ensure that your confessions align with your prayers.
