Only a few people would ever claim to not have sexual immoral thoughts – if there is anyone like that.
Like other thoughts, sexual immoral thoughts are random.
You can either discard it or continue to think about it.
If you are reading this then you are most likely struggling with putting such thoughts away from your mind.
How has it been for you? Do you struggle with it not knowing what to do or how to deal with it?
Then you have to practice God’s presence.
You can claim sexual thought does no harm to you since you are not sexually active physically.
But remember, what you think and focus your thoughts on is who you are.
Yeah, I know you won’t go to hell because of sexual immoral thoughts but you can limit God if you persistently think wrong thoughts.
The solution is to discard the wrong thoughts and practice God’s presence.
Your thoughts are important to God. Because he communicates to you through your heart.
And if your thoughts are always keeping you from what He is saying, how will you live the life he has planned for you?
Practicing God’s presence is acknowledging he is with you at all times.
You can do that by speaking scriptures to yourself or saying thank you, Jesus.
Knowing God’s presence is with you makes all the difference.
Try it the next time you have a sexual immoral thought.
Practice God’s presence by saying, thank you, Father, because I know you are with me.
It will amaze you how fast the picture will fade from your mind.
Remember that thoughts will come as long as you remain human.
But what you decide to focus on is your choice.
You are not at the mercy of your thoughts. You are in control of your thoughts.
This is the reason the apostle Paul admonished you in Philippians to think on things that glorify God.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8
If it were not possible, he wouldn’t have said you should do it.
Another thing you have to know about God’s presence is that it is not withdrawn from you when you have sexual immoral thoughts.
The reason you keep basking in such thoughts is that you are not aware of God’s presence at all times.
Nothing you do takes His presence from you if you have made Jesus Christ your Lord and savior.
Here is how our Lord Jesus Christ said it…
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; John 14:16
I looked up the word “forever” in the greek and it means forever. That means no matter what happens the Holy Spirit is with you forever.
Knowing this is enough to say no to all sexually immoral thoughts that will cross your mind.
Please don’t misunderstand me. Knowing God’s presence does not mean you won’t have sexual immoral thoughts.
It means you can discard such thoughts as soon as they pop up in your mind.
Practicing God’s presence and becoming good at it takes time. Put in the time and get used to it.
If you find yourself dwelling on wrong thoughts longer than usual, after reading this, be patient with yourself.
As you continue to practice His presence, you will notice the effect of such thoughts will fade in time.
Practice God’s presence.
